This week I bought the current issue of  "International Artist" magazine. Although I am constantly on the look out for artists and artwork that speak to me, I do tend to make most of my discoveries online. So when I found myself at Barnes and Noble I decided to treat myself to some eye candy that I could actually hold in my hand. The artwork featured on the cover, an oil painting by Serge Marshennikov, took my breath away.  Ever since I can remember, I have been amazed by artists that can paint so realistically that you question whether you are

It has been a few crazy weeks at "Casa Knauff" and it has been all about family. First was the whirlwind trip to New Orleans with my son and then I spent a long weekend in my hometown celebrating my Dad's 88th birthday with my parents and two of my siblings. As much as I loved spending time with my family, it did put me behind in both completing my painting and posting to the blog. The beauty of family is that it comes in all types and while I was visiting my parents I was able to spend some time

Again I am a bit behind with my CSA post. For the past few days I have been in New Orleans visiting Tulane University as my oldest son tries to decide where his future will take him. As I walked around campus, I couldn't help but think about what Carmen wrote about her February CSA photo. Because the effects of Hurricane Katrina are still evident and felt by all of the area's residents, there are many stories to be told. But many of Tulane students are from various places around the country and around the world. Many current students were

One thing I talk about ALOT when I am teaching Zentangle classes, is the idea that one must accept the past and move forward with what you have. There is no right or wrong with creativity, only choices. This past week I was telling Maggie, of Maggie Hogan Photography and this week's featured CSA artist, about how I periodically find "missed photos" on my camera. You know, the kind that happen when you accidentally press the shutter release while you are still pointing the camera at the floor or ceiling, or when your subject moves (because you, of course, are

I'm a bit behind in posting the CSA artwork for the second week of February. Why does it seem that an hour has less than 60 minutes when you compare it to a to-do list? I guess that is just one of many mysteries for the ages. I hope you enjoy Jenifer Beltz's most recent art piece for the 2015 CSA program. Besides being an exceptional watercolor artist, Jenifer is a prolific writer of prose and poetry. Both her art and writing is a reflection of Jenifer's spiritual nature. This piece features one of her flowing watercolor images and personal reflections inspired
