Introducing CSA Artist, Jenifer Beltz
I am very excited to share the beautiful watercolor art of my dear friend, Jenifer Beltz as part of the CSA program for 2015. Fate brought us together and our close friendship developed almost instantaneously. I’ll let Jenifer introduce herself and her January contribution…
About the Artist
Jenifer J. Beltz
I have always had a need to create beautiful spaces, and put down on paper or canvas that which I see in my mind’s eye. I have been a student of art since the age of 12, when I was first exposed to the wonders of oil painting. Hooked ever since, I continued to study art and experiment with different types of art and medium. I credit my mentor for opening up my eyes to the importance of color, paint layering, and the use of soft edges.
The many twists and turns my life path has taken, from surviving cancer to being a mother of a disabled child, comes through in my work. Each piece of art is an expression of my experience and an attempt to heal and give birth to a message coming forth from within. As I have grown, changed, and evolved, not only as a person, but as an artist, and connected with my spirituality, I have found the courage to speak my truth and express it artistically. As I am healed by the act of this expression, my hope and intention is that I can serve others by sharing what has healed me.
I currently live and work in Madison, WI along with my husband, two sons, and dog Lucy.
This painting was inspired by the poem “The More Loving One” written by W.H. Auden, a poet who is regarded by many critics as one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. I included a quote from the poem that embodies the philosophy by which I try to live my life…”If equal affection cannot be, let the more loving one be me”. Wishing you Love and Light…. Jenifer.
