Zentangles® – Not just for adults anymore
Since the beginning of the year, I have had the opportunity to teach the Zentangle process to dozens of people of all ages. But when I was babysitting my 8-month old nephew back in April, I decided that he was in need of a Zentangle inspired piece of art. When I was changing his diaper in one of the two designated diaper changing stations, I realized that he was looking up at the bottom of a cabinet (when he wasn’t squirming and trying to get away). There wasn’t anything for him to look at – not even a pin-up of one of the girls in the e-trade commercials. So before I left him (and my heart) in San Francisco, I made this piece to hang over his changing table. Unfortunately, his habit of being squirmy was already well ingrained in him.
My inspiration was taken from I am the Diva’s Challenge #5 called Orbs. I started with my nephew’s stacking cups and traced them into overlapping circles. I added sections of red since the contrast is great for little ones. I’m not sure if he is enjoying it but I had great fun making it.
